1. What Klars Does

Klars is a learning first translation and explanation tool. It generates English explanations to help you learn English through English.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Content you submit

• Text you submit for explanation, including text selected in other apps through the iOS text selection menu and text you paste or type in Klars.

2.2 Content you choose to save

• Content you choose to save in Klars, such as words, texts, notes, and tags.

2.3 App and device data

• Basic app and device information such as device type, operating system version, app version, language, and region.
• Diagnostic information such as crash logs and performance data to improve stability and reliability.

2.4 Purchase information

If you purchase a subscription or other in app purchase, Apple processes the payment. We may use third party services to manage subscription status and receive information such as whether you have an active subscription to enable features. We do not receive your full payment details.

3. How We Use Information

We use information to:

• Provide the core service, including generating English explanations.
• Store content you choose to save in the app, and if you enable sync features, sync that content as part of providing the service.
• Improve product quality, safety, and performance.
• Provide customer support and respond to your requests.
• Prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our policies.

4. AI Processing and Service Providers

To generate explanations, Klars may send your submitted text to trusted service providers that perform AI processing, hosting, analytics, or crash reporting.

• These providers may process your submitted text only to provide the service and support app operations, subject to confidentiality and security obligations. We prohibit them from using your data for training their models or other unrelated purposes.
• We do not sell your submitted text.
• Do not submit sensitive information such as passwords, financial account numbers, or highly confidential data.

5. Tracking and Advertising

• We do not use information collected in Klars to track you across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising or marketing purposes.
• We do not share your information with data brokers.
• We do not sell your personal information.

6. How We Share Information

We share information only when necessary:

• With service providers that help us operate the app, under confidentiality and security obligations.
• With Apple and related subscription management providers for in app purchases.
• If required by law, legal process, or to protect users, the public, and our rights.

7. Data Retention

• Submitted text may be temporarily processed and stored only as needed to deliver results, maintain reliability, and prevent abuse, typically up to a few days.
• Saved content such as words, texts, notes, and tags is retained until you delete it in the app.
• Diagnostic data is retained for a limited period, for example up to 90 days, to improve stability and performance.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect information. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, depending on where we and our service providers operate. We take steps designed to protect information during transfers, such as using standard contractual clauses where required.

10. Your Choices and Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing, or port your personal information.
